Celebrities To Gather In Queens For Town Hall Meeting On Gang Violence

Ja Rule, Salt of Salt-N-Pepa, Ed Lover, The Wire’s Idris Elba and Hasaan Johnson and others will gather in Queens, New York in June for Repping For Life,
a town hall meeting to discuss gang intervention and prevention.
The Repping For Life meeting is part of a campaign launched by LIFE Camp Inc.'s executive director Erica Ford and community organizer Al Kanu, to decrease gang violence across the city.
“At LIFE Camp, we have always been committed to young people, even the ones that society has abandoned,” Erica Ford said in a statement. “Gangs stay active in our communities because many young people don’t believe that they have other options.
With the Repping for LIFE campaign, we’re showing and giving other real options. It’s time to love LIFE, not death.Together, we can help end street violence and build a better future".
LIFE Camp is a non-profit organization established in 2002, whose mission is to help its participants develop into strong leaders and responsible entrepreneurs through the arts, specifically music and film.
The Repping For Life town hall will take place at the Performing Arts Center at York College (CUNY) on June 2 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and is open to the public.Other
town hall attendee’s will include Black Hand Entertainment' CEO Chaz Williams, Tupac Shakur's sister and businesswoman Setwya Shakur and rapper Tru Life.
