BBC 1Xtra's MistaJam and Rodeny P will host the 5th anniversary of UK Takeover - one of the largest independent British Hip-Hop events.
Headlining artists during this year's UK Takeover include
Klashnekoff, Baby J, Dynamite MC, Wiley, BET award winner Sway, Lethal
Bizzle and many others.
"UK Takeover is the biggest UK Hip-Hop event of the year so
far, it's gonna be a big night," UK rapper Lethal Bizzle told
AllHipHop.com. "I'm going to be performing exclusive tracks off my new
album Back to Bizznizz for the first time, so I'm excited to see how they go down with the crowd."
UK Takeover is supported by Love Music, Hate Racism, an organization in the UK which promotes anti-racist politics.
Creators of the event, MistaJam and UK Hip-Hop producer, Joe
Buddah said one of the main purposes of the event is to unite all music
fans, no matter of their class, color or creed is.
"This is a great opportunity for the UK to unite against
racism and promote a serious message that effects many people in the
UK" MistaJam told AllHipHop.com. "UK Takeover is the perfect platform
to emphasize this message, to a wide variety of people that have come
together to celebrate UK Hip-Hop."
The event will also include a "60 Second Assassin" emcee
battle where contestants will compete for prizes including a chance to
perform at next year's Takeover, Stanton DJ equipment and clothing from Addict.
There will also be an exclusive after party and a second room,
which will include several workshops and screenings of independent
Hip-Hop films and Black British films.
UK Takeover 5 is supported by MTV Base, where BBC Radio 1
DJ, Trevor Nelson will be doing an exclusive backstage show, for 'The
Lick', an R&B and Hip-Hop show which airs in the UK weekly.
Other sponsors include magazine Hip-Hop Connection and BBC
1Xtra, who will give fans who missed out, a chance to listen to
recordings of the showcase later in the year.
The main event will be held on May 28 in Nottingham, at Nottingham Trent University Student Union. | |
